Several hours later, police discovered an 8-month-old and 9-year-old in the middle of the 405 Freeway around 4:30 a.m. Monday.

The baby girl was pronounced dead at the scene, while her older sister survived with “moderate injuries,” per the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

LAPD reports indicate that Johnson was driving over 100 miles per hour on Interstate 405 in Culver City when she ejected her daughters from the car. The police also mentioned that Johnson crashed into a tree in Redondo Beach, with investigators believing it was a suicide.

The identities of the minors have not been disclosed. However, investigators stated that the surviving child provided details of what she witnessed during the tragic events.
