Krystal Cascetta was born in 1983 in Astoria, New York. Even as a kid, she was really interested in becoming a doctor, probably because her family had a history of it.

She used to play doctor with her dolls, wrapping them up like she was taking care of them. When she was in 8th grade, something sad happened – her mom’s friend passed away from breast cancer. This made Krystal decide she wanted to specialize in Medical Oncology, which is about treating cancer.

She started learning more and went to St. John’s University, where she studied Biochemistry. She finished that in 2005, and the same year she got into Albany Medical College for her Doctor of Medicine degree (MD).

People noticed how caring she was. She got into the Gold Humanism Honor Society because she cared a lot about patients and was a good leader.
