Amirov’s journey to the NHL began when he was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, being chosen as the 15th overall pick. This marked a significant achievement in his young career, demonstrating his potential as a player.

But life had some tough challenges for Rodion. In February 2022, he got really sick, and the doctors discovered he had a tumor in his brain. It was a dire situation, and Rodion had to go to Germany for special treatment.

Rodion Amirov was born on October 2, 2001, in Salavat in Russia. His mom, Inna Amirova, and his dad Ruslan Amirov were really important in his life.

When Rodion was just five years old, he put on ice skates for the first time. His dad took him to the local rink during the winter; a year later, his dad signed him up for official hockey training. Rodion loved it a lot and wanted to get better.
