Johnatakis, who is originally from Washington state, traveled to the nation’s capital to join the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. After attending the “Stop the Steal” rally, he went to the U.S. Capitol and posted a video on social media discussing storming the building.

Ignoring warnings, he entered the Capitol grounds with a megaphone. By 2:30 p.m., he was in the midst of the riot at the West Front. Johnatakis quickly moved to the front of the rioters, using his megaphone to rouse the crowd. As more people joined, the police were pushed back.

Court records indicate he led the charge, guiding the mob toward the Capitol. Despite new police lines, Johnatakis continued. He was among the first to climb the stairs, confronting law enforcement. He organized fellow rioters to break through, escalating the chaos with his megaphone.

Johnatakis is a married man. According to his interview, he was a college student when he met Marie. They were both still in college when they tied the knot and made their relationship official. After the wedding, the couple settled in Washington with their 5 kids.

When Taylor was declared guilty by the federal jury, his wife started a fundraising page with an emotional message. In the said message, Marie mentioned that after Taylor’s sentencing, life would get tough for her and the kids because he was the only breadwinner for the family.

In November 1983, Taylor Johnatakis (age 40) was born in the family of an Air Force Officer. Growing up as an Air Force brat Taylor spent a large part of his childhood in Japan.

Eventually, his father left the Air Force and decided to join the computer industry, for which the Johnatakis returned to the United States and settled in Idaho.

In 2001 Taylor completed schooling and joined Brigham Young University where he studied Political Science. After college Taylor started a business with one of his friends.
