Ryan Watson (age 40, born in April 1983) is a district sales manager at Nevro, a devoted husband to Valerie Watson, and a loving father of two children from Oklahoma. However, his life took a sudden turn when they encountered legal trouble during a vacation in Turks and Caicos.

The incident occurred while Ryan and Valerie were celebrating Ryan’s 40th birthday on their vacation in Turks and Caicos. What was supposed to be a joyous occasion turned into a nightmare when they attempted to return home.

During security checks at the Turks and Caicos airport, four rounds of ammunition were discovered in the bottom of a bag that Valerie was carrying. These rounds were remnants from a hunting trip Ryan had taken back in November, unknowingly left in the bag.

Remarkably, the rounds had gone undetected by the Oklahoma Transportation Security Administration (TSA) when the couple departed for their vacation, a fact that would have prevented the ensuing ordeal.

Upon the discovery of the ammunition by the Turks and Caicos airport security, both Valerie and Ryan were detained. They had expected a fine or the confiscation of the rounds, not realizing the severity of the situation.

She wasted no time and boarded the first flight back to the United States, arriving at Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma around noon on April 23, 2024.

The touching moment of Valerie’s return was captured by McIntyre Law Chopper 4 as her plane touched down at the airport. Waiting inside the terminal were her two children, loved ones, and friends, all overcome with emotion as she emerged from the gates.

Reflecting on her ordeal, Valerie expressed her relief at finally being reunited with her family. “I didn’t know when it was going to happen,” she said. “I was prepared to also be arrested Monday and just to get to hold my babies, that’s something I’ve been thinking about for a long time.”

Ryan Watson could face 12 years in prison

Ryan Tyler Watson was arrested at Howard Hamilton International Airport on April 12, 2024. He appeared in Magistrates Court on April 23, charged with possessing ammunition. If convicted, he could face up to 12 years in prison, according to a GoFundMe page set up for his family.

Despite this, Ryan Watson was granted bail of $15,000 under strict conditions. He is prohibited from leaving the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) without court permission and must surrender his passport and travel documents.

He is also required to report to the Grace Bay Police Station on Tuesdays and Thursdays and reside at a specified address in Providenciales.

Legal proceedings are adjourned until June 7, 2024, for a Sufficiency Hearing, marking a crucial stage in Watson’s legal battle in Turks and Caicos.
