He was arrested after his girlfriend found him assaulting her 16-year-old friend at his home. When they reported it to the police, Huizar resisted at first but was eventually taken into custody.
The court documents also revealed that Elias started a relationship with one of the victims when she was just 15 years old. She even had a baby when she was 16.
Despite the seriousness of the charges, Huizar was released on bail, which he posted the same day. As part of his release conditions, he surrendered his passport, avoided alcohol, and stayed away from his girlfriend and the other teenager involved in the case.
