Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun Step Down

Dave Calhoun (age 66, born April 18, 1957) is an American businessman who served as the president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Boeing. He took on these roles in January 2020, succeeding Dennis Muilenburg as CEO. Calhoun had previously been the chairman of Boeing.

Calhoun had been associated with Boeing for many years, having been a member of its Board of Directors since 2009. He briefly served as the board chairman from October to December 2019 before assuming the CEO position.

Before joining Boeing, Calhoun held significant positions at The Blackstone Group. From January 2014, he was the senior managing director and head of portfolio operations, focusing on value-added initiatives within Blackstone’s portfolio companies.

Prior to that, Calhoun was the executive chairman of the board at Nielsen Holdings from January 2014 to January 2016. He joined Nielsen in 2006 as CEO after it was acquired by a consortium of private equity investors, including Blackstone. During his tenure, Nielsen evolved into a prominent global information and measurement firm, listed on the New York Stock Exchange and included in the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index.

On March 25, 2024, Dave Calhoun announced his resignation from the position of CEO of Boeing, effective at the end of 2024.

Boeing CEO Dave to Step Down by End of Year

Dave Calhoun, the CEO of Boeing, announced on Monday his plans to step down from the company by the end of the year, signaling a significant change in its leadership. This decision comes alongside the departure of Boeing’s chairman and the head of its commercial airplane unit.

Stan Deal, who currently serves as the CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, is also retiring, with Stephanie Pope, Boeing’s chief operating officer since January, taking over his role immediately.

This management shakeup occurs as Boeing faces challenges in production and regulatory scrutiny after an incident involving a door panel on one of its Boeing 737 Max 9 planes.

In a statement released on Monday, Boeing mentioned that Dave will remain in his position until the end of 2024 to oversee critical efforts aimed at stabilizing the company and preparing it for the future.
