Ricky Alex Driggers (age 28, born in November 1995) is a carjacker from North Carolina. He was arrested on March 14, 2024, after intentionally struck and killed NCDOT worker Jonathan Adam LeCompte, a Good Samaritan from Fayetteville who had tried to stop him during a carjacking in Lumberton.
There is a viral video of the incident in which Jonathan is seen confronting Ricky before things take a deadly turn. Jonathan also opens fire on Ricky while trying to stop him from escaping in the stolen truck. Despite LeCompte’s warnings and shots, Ricky managed to reverse the car.
While Driggers was backing up, Jonathan shouted, “Get out of the way, he’s going to hit us.” Jonathan and another person run across the road, but the truck collides with Jonathan, throwing him into the air.
Witnesses start screaming, and one woman repeatedly says, “Oh my god!” Others rush to help LeCompte, who lay lifeless on the road and pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Lumberton Police Department later captured Ricky Driggers, who fled the scene but crashed the car on Selma Road near N.C. 41.

Authorities have charged Driggers with first-degree murder, Larceny Of Motor Vehicle, Flee / Elude Arrest W/MV and Two Attempted Common Law Robberies. Driggers is currently being held without bond in the Robeson County Detention Center.
